Honeywell announced on March 1 that Jiangsu Surbana Petrochemical Co., Ltd. has successfully put into operation its UOP methanol to olefin (MTO) unit. The device meets all performance guarantees and has an annual production capacity of 833,000 tons. It is currently the world’s largest bicycle methanol to olefin plant.
Honeywell UOP’s first advanced methanol-to-olefins plant was launched in Huiseng Energy in 2013. It is located in Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province. It mainly produces propylene – used in the manufacture of garments and fabrics. Raw acrylonitrile – and the high performance polymers needed to make automotive parts, helmets and other hard plastics. The methanol-to-olefin plant that will be put into production will also produce ethylene, a raw material for ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, which is widely used in the manufacture of adhesives, foaming agents, medical equipment, photovoltaic cells and other products. At the same time, it can also produce the raw material carbon tetra(C4) olefin of butadiene, which is one of the main raw materials for the production of synthetic rubber.
“The equipment put into production in Jiangsu Seribond is currently the largest single MTO device in the world.” Liu Maoshu, general manager of Honeywell UOP China, said, “In terms of scale and operational efficiency, Huo Nivel UOP’s advanced methanol-to-olefin process technology is firmly established in the industry.”
Jiangsu Sierbang Petrochemical Co., Ltd. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Shenghong Group, located in Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province. Fuxin District Chemical Industry Park. After its completion, its base covers a total area of about 500 hectares and can produce nearly 2.5 million tons of high-end petrochemical products in the industry.
